              2. Find the item you want to rent, then click on the 'item details' button
              3. Once on the item details page, click on the 'rent item' button and fill in the details.

If the item is owned by a 'rentoid business partner' you'll be given their phone number on screen. If it is owned by a private individual, you can simply pay a 5% deposit to confirm rental (fully refundable & guaranteed) after which you get their details on screen & emailed to you.

The owner of the item. Although you pay a 5% deposit, on pick up you simple pay the remaining 95% of the price. This figure is displayed on the screen So you'll know exactly how much is paid. The person who owns the item also knows this, but just remind them when you exchange the goods that you have paid their rentoid fee with your deposit. Or just bring the printout.

Questions for Owners: People who have listed their items to rent out to other people.

  1. Can I buy things on rentoid?
No. Rentoid is all about renting, not selling. We just connect owners of stuff with renters of stuff. But if a renter of your item wants to buy your item – go for it.
  2. What items can I list?
You can list anything that you are comfortable renting out.
  3. How do I know I will get my things back in good condition?
Simple protection method is to put a bond on your item. Which is an option available when you list the item. This is the best way to protect your items. Also make sure the renter of your item pays you upfront before you rent them the item.
  4. Does it cost anything to list my items?
Not a cent. It is free to list as many things as you like. Rentoid only gets paid if a rental transaction occurs. In this case a deposit will of 5% will be paid to rentoid as a deposit on the rental. When the item is exchanged you willrecieve the remaining 95% for the rental. Which means that they pay the rentoid service fee on your behalf. Easy.
  5. OK. So when do I get charged for the service?
The person renting the item from you pays the 5% deposit to rentoid for you (which is the rentoid fee) This is paid in a secure environment on PayPal, which accepts credit cards and PayPal accounts for payment. Safe & secure!
  6. How much should I make the bond?
That's a tough one. Enough to ensure that the renter looks after your stuff. But do not make the bond too much, or else you will turn the renter off renting from you. An example might be $100 for a Nintendo Wii worth $400. Or maybe a credit card swipe if you have the facility to do so.
  7. How much should I list my items for?
There are a few things to keep in mind, so read the blog post about how to set your rental prices.

Pricing advice: We recommend the following prices on items which our research shows is best for generating lots of rental transactions:
    1 day = 1% of items value
1 Week or weekend = 5% of items value
1 month rental = 10% of items value

This allows seems to be a good model for most items, but of course the final pricing decision is yours. But it makes sense to rent it our often for a lower price, than to charge too much and never rent it out.
  8. Does the bond have to be cash?
No. You might want to take something of value - we know some people have asked for the renter's passport or driver's licence, but it is really your choice and whatever makes you feel comfortable.
  9. What forms of payment do you accept?
All payments are made securely via PayPal which accepts credit cards and PayPal accounts, whichever you prefer.
  10. Do I need to live near the owner / renter item?
That's up to you. If you want to travel 300 miles to rent out your ugg boots, who are we to stop you? For smaller items like books, CDs or novelty ties, you might be better off sending it in the post. We recommend that you use registered mail.
  11. Can I rent my Hummer on Rentoid?
