George Carlin & Stuff

leave a comment

We’ve all got so much stuff, and George Carlin was a man ahead of his time. If only we had rentoid.com back then, he could’ve put his stuff to good use on rentoid - or better yet, not had to buy so much stuff, and rent it instead.

This piece below is hilarious, but oh so true.

With love from Rentoid - aiming for a world with less stuff :)

Environmentally friendly advertising

Could this be, the most environmentally friendly piece of advertising possible? I think there’s a chance.

There’s also a chance that it’s the most ridiculous thing for someone to do while at the beach as the rentoid.com founder Steve clearly loves this humble little web business. Yep, that’s him in the corner.

Here’s one of our rentoid crew Lukey Mac showing his displeasure for the Hummer in our local village. Here’s a reminder of the Hummer debate on rentoid since we banned the on our website.

Environmental Challenge No 1.

The greatest challenge of all facing the environment is this. The decision makers live in the house immediately below:

rich house

This is the outlook they have:

The outlook they have on a daily basis does not reflect the challenges we face. There is no physical evidence in their day to day living. In order to orchestrate change, the decision makers would have to live in this house below:

With this outlook:

These houses are a 30 minute drive from each other, in the one city. In two separate suburbs. The fact is our environment shapes our immediate behavior. If we want true behavioral change then we must change peoples outlooks.

Renaults new electric cars

leave a comment

Renault has wowed the crowd at the Fankfurt International Motor Show with 4 new uber futurist electric cars. All of which they claim to be in production by 2012. We can only hope to see them on rentoid.com. If they become available here in Australia I’ll be the first person to buy one… and of course I’ll list it on rentoid for rent. Maybe our friends a flexicar will embrace them too….

The sooner the world works out we don’t need to own cars, but share them, the better off we’ll all be.  Have you thought about renting your spare car on rentoid? It’s a $10,000 plus idle asset 90% of its life. ….

There’s some nice pics below and you can read the full story here.

Melbourne Sustainability Drinks

leave a comment

Rentoid Founder, CEO and all round nice guy Steve Sammartino will be giving the key note speech at the Melbourne Sustainability drinks in August.  August 5th to be precise.

Melbourne Sustainability Drinks

For the uninitiated the ‘Sustainability Drinks’ event presented by the Shaper Group and is all about connecting passionate people who want to create a better world. Something we are proud to be associated with. The fact is, we can’t rely on large corporations or governments to create our future. We have to do it ourselves. We have to be positive about the technology we have access to and invent new ways of living which don’t ruin our only home (Earth). Our backyard is shared and it deserves a little more respect than we’ve given it in the past.

In the spirit of this Steve will be painting a picture of where he sees the internet improving the future in what promises to be an inspiring session. Come along for a drink and some positive vibes with people who are making a difference.

Details: 6-8pm August 5th, Tjanabi, in Federation Square. (Flinders St side)

Cheers, rentoid team.
