A new Swedish startup connects camping holidaymakers with anyone willing to rent out their back yard, garden or driveway for a few nights. (Think couch surfing for tent-lovers.) The website is called www.singlespotcamping.com and we think it’s pretty good idea at rentoid. Except for the fact that they actually charge you $40 to list your backyard per year. A bit rich we reckon…
So why not list your cool backyard in Bondi, St Kilda, Torquay, Margaret River, The Gold Coast, Cairns or Noosa (Insert uber cool Australian location here) for free on rentoid.
Yep, you only ever pay us if your stuff gets rented. Yep, we stole their idea, but hey, ideas are free and rentoid is the place to rent anything, including backyards!
Here’s a simple proposal. Tell us about a transaction you had on rentoid. Tell us about an item you have on rentoid for rent and why it’s a pretty awesome thing to rent.Tell us why you don’t want to sell this item, why your keeping it, but happy to rent it out.
Tells us why someone should rent your thing! Give us a spiel a real sell job!

You wont believe how easy it is to make some cash on rentoid. Here’s a true success story from one of rentoid’s employees who just made a handy Christmas earner from an idle asset.
He listed his surfboard for rent on rentoid here: Surfboard for rent. For $40 a day and $100 for a week.
A guy from California on a surfing holiday in Australia found rentoid and the surfboard via Google and rented it for 3 days. They agreed on the price of $100 for the 3 days and the renter gave him a $100 deposit for the board. The guy who rented the surfboard was stocked because he couldn’t bring his board with him on this leg of the surfing holiday, and didn’t want to rent a crappy learners board or foam surfboard (the usual type you can rent near the beach). So now he can go for a surf on an ‘awesome surfboard’ at the famous Bells Beach thanks to rentoid. A lifetime dream & he’s stoked.
The person who rented the board - nameless rentoid employee 
- is also stoked because he just made a quick $100 from his surfboard which will help pay for all the Christmas presents he has to buy.
Additional Bonus: The guy from California got the heads up on all the good surfing spots around Bells beach from a local. And the local now has a friend in California he can go surfing with next year.
Everyone is happy.

At rentoid HQ and around Melbourne in general it’s pretty easy to forget what rain acutally looks like. Rain is almost like a childhood memory it’s been so long since we had a decent drop of it.
The good news is it hasn’t stopped raining since friday. So hopefully all out rentoid members gardens will be looking a lot better for Christmas.

At rentoid - the truth is we have some of these High end Rockstar items for rent, and I wonder if we are exacerbating the situation…. or helping people save money?
Maybe some savvy kids will use the site to start a mini entreprenurial business?
At a minimum I hope we are at least giving people the option for a smarter allocation of their scarce resources.
