We’ve listened to our members, and if you didn’t find what you where looking for on rentoid we have now added a great feature where you can “suggest it”. It’s called:

Stuff You Want (click to see it)

The thing that makes it really great is that when the item you wanted is listed, we’ll send you an email to let you know. You can even add a required date.

It’s also great if you can’t think of what to list - because there’s renters waiting for the suggested item if you have it.

Check it out, and let us know of any other ways to improve rentoid.

We couldn’t agree more with the latest advertising campaign for Hummer…

‘Now get lost’, are our sentiments exactly.  In fact there are only two things which are not allowed to be listed on rentoid:

1. Anything illegal
2. Hummers

We’re not kidding, click here  to check it out( FAQ 10). We figure it’s important to stand for something, and we reckon Hummers are the most blatant abuse of resources we’ve seen for a while.

We don’t have an environmental policy at rentoid… but as part of our committment to the good cause which is Blog Action Day, please see below:

Every time you rent something it’s a product which doesn’t get made, packaged, shipped and sold. Sure, we’re not scientists, but we’re quite certain this is a win for the environment.

We don’t have a policy, just a belief - that renting is a sensible way to enjoy life, while reducing our impact on the planet, our home.

We just thought we’d let our Australian members know about a great store called ‘Howards Storage World’. It is really a store that defines life in 2007.

 So much stuff, nowhere to put it!

The good news is Howards Storage has gadgets, ideas and integrated solutions that you’d never imagine.

Even though we reckon renting stuff is a great way to solve storage issues, we’re still  realistic enough to know that humans will always have a tendency to hoard a little.

Does anyone know of any other stores or tips for the storage challenges we all face?

If you’re here on the rentoid blog, you already know that rentoid is a great way to save and make money renting items instead of buying.

So in the spirit of spreading good vibes, we’ve made the rentoid top 10 list of household budgeting ideas:

1. Turn lights off in an empty room, turn off switches on unused electrical appliances
2. Book flights early, book accommodation last minute
3. Wear a jumper / use a blanket before turning the heater on
4. Buy fresh food before you buy frozen. It’s always cheaper (and healthier)
5. Open the windows, close the curtains before you turn on the airconditioner
6. Walk to local areas (shops / school) rather than drive
7. Get a book from the library on ‘household budgeting’ - there are many!
8. Eat at home, make your lunch, avoid take out food & drinks.
9. Have a garage sale to declutter your garage and fill your wallet
10. Wait before buying high tech items… fools buy first. eg Plasma TV 5 years ago was $10,000, the same can now be bought for under $1500.
11. Bonus method: don’t worry about keeping up with the Joneses, stick to your budget instead.

Isn’t it funny how saving money also has some nice environmental & health benefits. Must be that karma thing!

Apartment Therapy is an uber cool blog that we highly recommend at rentoid.com

Put simply, it has plenty of great ideas to improve apartment living. They really know ’space management’ and maximising living environs. The site is big in major US cities like New York, and San Francisco where the general populous is high up the learning curve as far as apartment living is concerned.

They have some great photos of apartment furniture, apartment layouts, kitchens, green living and even ideas on how to grow your own organic herbs and vegetables in your apartment.

Given the modern day issue is often “space” and making the most of it, seems rentoid and Apartment therapy have the same philosophy.

Rentoid has just committed being part of blog action day. “What’s Blog Action Day?” I hear you ask…
