What color is rentoid?

The logo is blue and white, but the concept is green.

We often hear about the carbon output of companies and products. With renting, we can use without consuming resources. So every time we rent something on rentoid we’re making a green choice.

The carbon output, or resources consumed on using an existing product is close to zero. Sure there’s some electricity being used on the net or maybe you have to drive to pick up the item… but it’s always a better environmental option than buying.

Imagine if everyone was on rentoid……

We would be able to find what we’re after in the local neighbourhood - then we could walk to pick it up and get some exercise at the same time!

Rental ideas

one comment

Can’t think of what to list? Here’s a range of random items which renters have been requesting:

Snow equipment, Surfing gear, old Musical instruments, Power tools, Gardening tools, Bikes, trailers, Vans, utes, Tables & chairs, Computers, Printers, old Mobile phones, Audio visual equipment, old Laptops & computers, Plasma TV’s, Coffee machines, old ipods…

People need your stuff! Don’t worry if it’s already on rentoid, your neighbourhood would rather rent from you, not the other side of town.

Any suggestions? What are you looking to rent?

There's a market for everything!

leave a comment

We’ve been surprised at the variety of items which have found their way onto rentoid. If rentoid has proven anything it’s this: “there’s a rental market for everything”.

The variety includes a calculator,  water tanks,  jumping castles,  language phrasebooks,  donut fryers,  heaters,  ironing boards,  ladders, lawn mowers,  office plants,  a leather jacket, tools, tents, bikes….even a baking dish!

Don’t worry about which items you should list - list them all.

It’s free to list as many items as you please, so you can let the market decide what it needs.

Don’t be shy - just keep it legal!

Rentoid feature item

We are getting some really cool items on rentoid now.  The kind of stuff that’s really worth having access to, but might be a bit expensive to buy, or it’s a temporary need / want. Remember these old school classics?

Frogger, Galaga, Space Invaders and Pacman all on the one table top arcade machine. Add a “retro feel” to your next party.

Why not list something retro cool in your area?

Rentoid means what?

leave a comment

We had no idea.

But according to some sources, the definition of rentoid is:

A person outfitted in all rental equipment — and can’t ski

We just thought rentoid would be a good name for our site. What do you think?

Anyhoo, you’re welcome to list all of your Skiing equipment on rentoid. Or anything else, for that matter.

So what is Rentoid? Update

leave a comment

As the tagline suggests, rentoid is (or at least will be) the place to rent anything.

Rentoid has been set up in Melbourne, Australia - with the simple purpose: a website that allows you to rent stuff from other people, or for other people to rent stuff from you.

We’ve been working on rentoid for a while now, and are happy to take on new renters. Right now we have about 150 nearly 500 1000 items available to be rented - with your help that will grow over time.

How does it work?

You can search for items on the front page, or by going to find. . If there is something find that you’d like to rent, you just need to sign up for an account. This is free and takes about a minute.

If you have things that you would like to list, you can do this for free. You will need an account for this too. But once you’ve signed up, you can list as many of your things as you like. You choose how much you want to rent things out for.

So, good friends, GO FORTH AND RENT!

If you have any suggestions or ideas please contact us to let us know.

Rentoid tips

leave a comment

  • If you leave the “what” and “where” empty to find listed items, it shows all listings.
  • If you just leave the “what” empty and fill in the “where“- location, it brings up all items listed in that location.
  • If you fill in the “what” but leave the “where” empty it brings up all items listed of that description in all locations
  • If you click into the find page you can simply search all items listed by category.

Of course we will add these to our FAQ’s section, which is updated just as soon as any questions turns out to be frequently asked!
